COMPANY
A high-volume industrial powder coating and impregnation service provider in the United States. The facility operates a 5,000+ m² (57,000 sq. ft.) plant and serves major automotive and manufacturing customers. Production capacity includes coating up to 700 large castings per hour (approx. 1,360 tonnes per day), while the impregnation line processes up to 150 aluminum components per hour. Operations run continuously (24/7) to meet high production demands.
CHALLENGE
Operating in a continuous 24/7 production environment, the plant relies heavily on chain-driven conveyor systems to transport components through multiple stages, including chemical cleaning, powder coating, curing ovens and cooling zones. These systems are exposed to sustained high temperatures of 232–293°C, as well as contaminants such as chemical residues and fine powder particles.
The previously used Teflon-based lubricant was unable to withstand these extreme conditions, leading to thermal degradation and carbonization. This resulted in ash deposits accumulating on chains, rollers and cam assemblies, increasing friction, wear and the risk of unplanned downtime. In addition, high lubricant consumption and frequent cleaning cycles negatively impacted maintenance efficiency and operating costs.
SOLUTION
A SWEPCO Field Service Representative recommended SWEPCO 722 HiTemp Chain & Roller Lubricant, designed for superior performance in high-temperature environments.
RESULTS
- Ash deposits completely eliminated
- Monthly lubricant consumption reduced by 30–50%
- Annual cost savings of approximately $36,000
- Reduced cleaning requirements and improved operational efficiency
COMMENT
“We are getting twice the service life compared to before. It is saving us about 30% monthly and completely eliminated ash deposits.” – Engineering Maintenance Supervisor, Industrial Facility
Results in other applications may vary. Always consult OEM specifications for proper lubricant selection.
