SWEPCO 164 Open Gear EP Grease is designed to provide unparalleled protection for heavily loaded exposed gears in various industrial applications, including cranes, rotary kilns, and draglines. It is specially formulated to meet the unique challenges of lubricating a wide range of open gears, including turntables on cranes, crown gears on rotary kilns, gears on draglines, excavators, and in quarries, foundries, and many other industries.

Utilizing advanced overbased complex calcium sulfonate gelling chemistry, this lubricant offers superior load-carrying capacities, mechanical stability, and excellent resistance to water and corrosion. Its high drop point of 580°F (300°C) ensures reliable performance under extreme conditions. SWEPCO 164 eliminates the need for periodic cleaning and extends lubrication intervals, making it a cost-effective solution for industries such as heavy construction and mining.

Open gears, especially large applications like ring gears on rotary kilns and finishing machines, swing gears on cranes, and hoist gears, require a lubricant that can withstand extreme loads. With a Timken OK load of 60 pounds and a 4-Ball Weld load of 1000 kg, SWEPCO 164 provides the added protection that these types of gears need.

Reduced consumption

Many lubricants “throw off” from gears and other components of equipment, especially when the equipment operates at high speeds. SWEPCO 164 adheres stubbornly to metal, increasing the level of protection and reducing consumption. Consumption is also reduced due to an exceptionally high drop point of more than 300°C (580°F), which prevents thinning and bleeding. Its inherently high mechanical stability keeps SWEPCO 164 in grade for a longer time. These properties typically result in a significant reduction in lubricant consumption.
